Music + Alcohol = Drinkify

DrinkifyIt’s rare that I’m drinking and not listening to the sounds of music. I may be in a bar, and Dave Matthews is piping through the speakers. Or at a party, and Adele is crooning from the house iPod. Even in my kitchen, I’ll sip some wine while Jack Johnson–or if my kids have a say, a “cooler” band like the Shins–serenades me as I chop onions and set the table.

Enter, Drinkify. “Created in twenty-four boozy hours” by a few folks at Music Hack Day Boston, the website marries music and drink, explaining that “Drinkify automatically generates the perfect* cocktail recipe to accompany any music. (*May not actually be perfect.)

Perusing some of my preferred musicians, I learned that the suggested “Grateful Dead” accompaniment is:

  • 12 oz. Sipsmith Gin
  • 12 oz. Lemon juiceJack Johnson
  • 6 oz. Blackwoods Gin

“The Regina Spektor” includes:

  • 1 oz. Microbrew
  • 1 oz. Cream
  • 8 oz. Sweetened lime juice
And “The Jack Johnson” calls for:
  • 2 oz. Sipsmith Gin
  • 2 oz. Honey
  • 1 bottle Cranberry juice
Even if you’d rather not drink, it’s kind of fun to see what pairings they’ve come up with. So, happy listening…
