You’ve made some great points, Caren. I think underage drinking is a major concern for all parents. It definitely is for me, with my 2 teenage daughters. You mention having your son take a bathroom break or get something from the kitchen when these commercials come on. The good news is that you no longer have to do that. A dish coworker suggested recently that I upgrade my equipment to the Hopper system, which comes with an ad-skipping feature called the Auto-Hop. This allows us to skip commercials altogether, on content that was recorded during prime time, with the push of a button. Such a relief! I no longer have to worry about them seeing negative commercials.

Your title is like asking “Will my kid have premarital sex because of ads on TV?” Your kid, like almost all kids, will almost certainly drink underage regardless of ads.
