Why does drinking have to be associated with getting drunk? I "drink" every day, just about, but have not been "drunk" or had a hangover in at least 25 years, and I assume never again. So there is drinking with a small "d" and Drinking, with a cap. I despair that in the USA we will ever realize the distinction and accept the former and not confuse it with the latter

You know, I wanted so badly to be able to drink like those women. To be cool to handle my liquor, and I did for a while. It took a long time to accept, painfully, that I just can't. It is our culture and when you are a "poor alcoholic," it really bites! But I finally accepted that I am not like those women and I never will be. Your post hit on something real for me.
